Skala Potamia is a popular summer destination on Thassos Island located next to Golden Beach on its southern end. It is well known for its fabulous sandy blue bay, surrounded by olive groves and spectacular granite mountains with lush green pines and trees. Right behind it, you can climb to the highest peak on the island, Ipsarion, at a breath-taking height of 1,204 m.
Skala Potamia together with Golden Beach is about 2,5 kilometres long with fine golden sand and shallow water. The beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag. It is a perfect place for families with children to swim, to play and to build sandcastles. The beach is named after the colour of the sand as it sparkles when the sun rises, and one could really call it golden. If you are not an early riser you can spend a romantic night watching the moon dipping into the sea from your balcony.
Access to the Skala Potamia is a very easy, with excellent road connections, a regular bus service, and the opportunity of hiring cars and motorbikes for those visitors who do not have their own transport.
Staying in Skala Potamia allows easy access to all places on the island, beaches, archaeological sites, and the nearby villages.
